This Cookie Policy explains how NORVARCH ("we", "us", or "our") uses cookies and similar technologies on our website, the categories we use, their purposes and typical durations, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy. This Policy is designed to align with the EU ePrivacy rules and GDPR, the UK GDPR/PECR, and CCPA/CPRA.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. "Similar technologies" include local storage, pixels, and software development kits that perform comparable functions. Cookies may be "session" cookies (deleted when you close your browser) or "persistent" cookies (remaining until they expire or are deleted). They may be set by us ("first-party") or by third parties whose services appear on our pages ("third-party").
2. Categories of cookies we use
| Category | Purpose | Examples | Consent? |
|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | Core functionality: session management, authentication, load balancing, and security (including CSRF protection). | Session cookie, CSRF token | Not required (exempt) |
| Preferences | Remember your choices, such as your light/dark theme selection. | Theme preference (browser local storage) | Not required (functional) |
| Third-party functional | Live-chat support and payment processing when you use those features; these providers may set their own cookies under their policies. | Live-chat widget, payment gateway | As set by the provider |
| Analytics (if enabled) | Understand aggregate usage to improve the site. Only used if you have consented where consent is required. | Analytics identifiers | Consent required |
We currently use strictly necessary and preference technologies by default. We do not use advertising or cross-context behavioural-tracking cookies. If we introduce analytics or marketing cookies, we will request consent where required and update this Policy.
3. Legal basis
Strictly necessary cookies are used on the basis of our legitimate interest in operating a secure, functional website and are exempt from consent requirements. Where cookies are not strictly necessary and consent is required by law, we will obtain your consent before setting them, and you can withdraw consent at any time.
4. Managing cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can clear local storage the same way. Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and notify you when one is set. Please note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of the website, such as login and the client portal, from working correctly. For third-party cookies, you can also consult the relevant provider's policy and opt-out mechanisms.
5. Do Not Track & global privacy signals
Some browsers offer "Do Not Track" or Global Privacy Control signals. Because we do not use cross-site advertising cookies, these signals do not change what we collect; where required by law we honour recognised opt-out preference signals.
6. Changes & contact
We may update this Cookie Policy to reflect changes in technology or law. The updated version will appear here with a new "Last updated" date. Questions can be sent to info@norvarch.com.
